War

Normally, the flock of geese that live on the farm live in harmony. They have been out in the field in front of me for a fortnight or so. It would almost be possible to tell the time from where they are on the field. They wander to the same area's of the expanse every day.

It must be that time of year. The males are competing for dominance and these two have been at each others throats, wings, legs or any other part of the body they can get their beaks into. Feathers have been flying and they drifted in small clouds with the wind. I did intervene after taking this photo. Enough to jump the fence, split them and stand between them for a few minutes until they became more concerned for my presence than their squabble.

No doubt I will be splitting the conflict again tomorrow!
