LD 351 Toad

The pond is full of movement and noise at present, and I have blipped it before.

Today however I managed to get a reasonable shot of one of the toads, which usually submerge as soon as you come near , or there is a footfall anywhere around.

It put me instantly in mind of that verse in Philip Larkin's eponymous poem:

For something sufficiently toad-like
Squats in me too
Its hunkers are heavy as hard luck
And cold as snow
