Blue Train at Bowling

One of the loves of my life, and there are many, were the electric trains introduced in routes around Glasgow in the early 1960s. As a child I thought we'd gone from the steam age to the space age. The design elements alone were brilliant. The Blue Trains had their own logo. They were painted Kingfisher Blue, with a yellow and black stripe to commemorate the long gone Caledonian Railway. Inside they had velvety striped seats with sixties abstracts on the fittings They were great. They had square wheels, but everyone loved them.

Painting by Terence Tenison Cuneo. Extra of interior.
