Walking The Line

Continuing Monday's theme on a very wet and even greyer morning. Here's another prime meridian marker. This one is  in the form of a stone hemisphere with an inset copper band set on top of a square pedestal. This one stands on Lane End Common in North Chailey where the Prime Meridian crosses the Manor of Balneath, some 34 miles due south of Greenwich. It was erected in 1953.  A few years ago it was almost entirely obscured by birch and gorse but clearance work has revealed it again.
