Formidable!

Austere & formidable Blackness Castle, guarding this section of the River Forth between South Queensferry & Bo'ness.
Blackness Castle built in 15th & 16th centuries, (there was an older one there!) goods were delivered by ship here to Blackness & transported to Royal Palace at Linlithgow.
There were also prisoners held here up till early 19thc, French & American prisoners!
It was also used as an armaments depot until after World War 1.

That's the history lesson for the day!!

Had a lovely day in Wet Lothian, recceing (is there such a word!!) for work this week! Then up to Perth for visiting friends.

Overcast day, 10 deg though!!
