Day 071/21. The 'Dolphins' at Lepe

These structures, called 'Dolphins' formed part of the pier head used to load ships departing for Normandy.
On the 6 June 1944 thousands of troops with their vehicles and supplies left Britain via locations including Lepe Beach in the Hampshire for the beaches of Normandy.
The Dolphins remain today together with a large site with the remains of the buildings and structures used.
The rainbow was an added bonus today.
