Flowers for Mothering Sunday

Today is Mothering Sunday (aka Mother's Day) in Britain, Ireland and, apparently, Nigeria.

For many people, Mothering Sunday just represents a gap - the loss of a mother; the devastation of the loss of a child (a card that's always missing); the emotions around *not* being a mother; an estranged relationship or just not having the 'perfect', lovey-dovey, mother-child relationship. This year too, people are separated by restrictions, or recent bereavement. For those, Mothers' Day can be bitter-sweet, like Valentine's Day when you're single.

Whether today is difficult or happy, it's just another day, and I hope it's a good one for you.

Flowers, including primroses, are very much associated with the day. II thought they were a bit past their prime, and maybe they are, but I see that they are supposed to have ragged edges to their petals!

As for Mole, he was bought for me by hubby in reference to the passage I quoted here.
