Between fen and mountains

Chewing the cud

I love the sound of the cow bells and am disappointed when town dwellers come to the country and complain to the gendarmes about roosters, the sound of tractors, tinkling bells, church bells and other country noises. I could add the sound of the bells attached to hunting dogs that tinkle around the valley on Wednesdays or the barking of the same dogs in their compounds during the week. Then there are the complaints of farmers when bears or wolves are reintroduced to their natural habitats and take sheep. It all happens in the countryside!
We rang seven bells this morning. I then went for a walk, had a cup of tea with a friend and then settled down to more rugby and my book. The excitement of the bell ringers' Zoom quiz now awaits!!
