Elections

To the NDSM today after dropping of R. in town. The NDSM is an old shipyard situated across the river from the main town and has been turned into a sort of arts centre and open air market. It's all quite hip and trendy and a popular spot to go to on a Sunday. In the old days, before the 'event', there used to be a flea market held here which was massively popular. The rest of the place is run-down but in an arty way (read: graffiti and lots of rusting hardware left over) but there's always a nice vibe and plenty of photo opportunities.

K. was across the water taking pictures at the Climate Change demo taking place in the Westerpark for the charity she volunteers for. I was hoping to meet up for tea at Central station (a 10 minute ferry ride from where I was) but the timing didn't quite work out, so we'll leave it for another day.

In other news: there's an election coming up next week. Not that it'll change much - the current ruling party is going to get back in again - but it's the colour of the coalition it needs to put together that'll shape the next few years. The beauty of Dutch politics is that there are lots of parties. Just take a look at the picture at all the various political parties competing for your vote! I think there are 37 running in total. No matter what your political views, your age, your gender or even your fetish, Dutch politics will provide.
