Forlorn young swans

This is the second time we've seen this down at Mallards Lake. Last year we watched a pair of adult swans rear 3 cygnets throughout the summer and winter and when spring came this year the youngsters were driven off the lake by their parents and found refuge on the adjacent River Len.

The three were not there very long and must have flown off to find territories of their own. This year the same has happened. We found this year's brood in the same position while over on the main lake the parents are preparing to nest again. And so the cycle goes on.
