Cream spotted ichneumon wasp

I've never before seen one of these elusive insects and I was excited to see this one. It's camera shy and I feel lucky to have got this photo, after which it flew off and landed on a nice plain leaf but it wasn't going to let me have a second shot. It flew off again and disappeared.

This wasp lives in Australia and New Zealand. It doesn't sting humans or build nests. The adults eat nectar and the larvae parasitise in the larvae of other insects, especially some species of butterfly.

Thanks for hosting Cathy1947. Stay well all.
