Return Journey

There is no blip for the 15th and it is appropriate to leave it blank.  We left at 5.30am Monday morning to drive to Napier for the funeral of a very dear friend, who was also our marriage celebrant.  It was a wonderful celebration of her life - 400 attendees, lots of tributes, many, many tears.

Today, we left at 5am to make the return journey to Auckland.  The blip is of a corrugated iron “figure” perched on the roof of a building in Tirau, the corrugated iron town and home of the kingfisher I blipped earlier in the year https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2807921547623270831.  The extra is of another figure perched close to the one in the main photo.  They were both very quick photos due to our very limited time frame.

The journey each way took 7 hours allowing for comfort stops and breakfast, but additionally there were numerous roadworks and a major diversion.  On arriving back home we just had time to shower and change before hopping on our bikes to cycle into the Cup Village.  The first race today was extremely exciting, especially when Team NZ came from behind to win, making the score 6-3 to Team NZ.  The second race was abandoned due to lack of wind.
