When Spuds Go Bad

Wow, sunshine on my back! Working away at the allotment and not being cold, had almost forgotten what that was like. Finally lifted the rest of last year’s spuds and although I got a bucket load there were also a lot of squishy ones. Any that were only a bit squishy got chopped (I had the good bits for my dinner) but most went straight into the compost bin. Pink Fir Apples, which these were, are not nearly as good at over wintering in the ground as the Nicolas and Charlottes of the potato world. We have new ones chitting away though so I must remember to lift them a bit earlier next time.
