The Man/Woman Who Fell To Earth

M and I went out for another Wirral walk today but, for a change, we headed inland and walked a circular route through the woods and fields between the villages of Thornton Hough and Brimstage. As we approached Brimstage Hall Craft Centre (currently closed, of course) we were met with the surreal sight of this astronaut standing in a field.

There was nothing untoward occurring though! The field in question is normally the site of the annual Maize Maze and the figure is a remnant from 2019’s space-themed maze, marking the 50th anniversary of the moon landing www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/family-kids-news/brimstage-maze-reveals-years-design-16592730 When the maize is at its height it will be taller than the life-sized figure, but right now it makes for an ideal Blip-opportunity (see Extras too!).

To get you in a suitably spaced-out, theremin-enhanced mood, why not have a listen to The Imagined Village’s rendition of Peggy Seeger and Ewan MacColl’s ‘Space Girl’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=w7ZgShUIfQc
