Day 078/21. It's nearly gone.

A walk today around the Calshot area.
The old Fawley Power station is being demolished after many years of operation. It was decommissioned in 2013.
Little remains now of the main buildings and turbine hall. Its 198-metre (650 ft) chimney is a prominent landmark,  and is due to be brought down this summer (unless delayed by Covid). See extra picture.
There is much debate about what to do with the site. A huge new housing estate is one option, but the local infrastucture and particularly roads, are not up to the additional population. I suspect the site will simply remain empty for years yet.
