Spring Cleaning Bloo Tit

I'd heard scratching and scrabbling so guessed that the blue tits might be checking out the hole in the wall where our old loo overflow used to be again.

As we returned from our morning walk I noticed a blue tit in the elder bush near the loo window. I watched as it disappeared into the hole. I was very surprised when it emerged with a beak full of nest material. I've tried to find out if these birds clear their chosen nesting places of old nest material but haven't been able to discover anything. I know that badgers chuck out their old bedding.
