The Village Sign for Boxted, Suffolk (detail)

Boxted is a small village in West Suffolk. According to the website for Boxted Hall, the Weller-Poley family has been there since 1392 and are still there. This is the family crest, perched on the top of the village sign: it is a lion 'rampant' and is sometimes seen without its collar and chain.
