Lathyrus Odoratus

Bumbarrel

An unusual find on the edge of a field during this morning's rather damp and grey walk - a dead Long-tailed tit. I can't remember ever finding one before. There were no visible signs of injury or cause of death. It is such a delightful exuberant bird, I'm hoping this one simply died from over excitement. I rather like some of the old vernacular names for the species like Mumruffin and Bumbarrel.
