Homeward bound- but not us!

We have become very fond of Jamie who has been a patient on the ward since mid December. He had a head injury and has made fantastic progress and is being moved to a hospital nearer home. He said he didn't want to leave as he wanted to see Rafi getting better! We will keep in touch with him by text and maybe he can meet up with Rafi in the future.
Rafi tried the 'eye gaze' communication aid today for the first time. He has to look at a screen and 'dwell' on a picture for a few seconds to choose it. He has started with a screen with 4 pictures on and when he chooses one it makes a noise, not the sort of game that he would normally find exciting, but I guess after nearly 4 months of not being able make anything 'happen' this is worth persevering with. Eventually he will be able to let us know exactly what he wants.
He was very restless/ uncomfortable last night and didn't properly fall asleep until 1.30am. I stayed with him and eventually got in the bed next to him, what a weird feeling it is lying on a air mattress that is constantly moving!
