2001: a space odyssey

To use the parlance of the times, this film blew my mind, which I think is what director Stanley Kubrick intended. The movie took us into space in a meaningful way, for the first time. It's a very slow going film, a bit mystical, a bit psychedelic. My mum took me to see it at the Colleseum Cinerama, Glasgow, in 1968. The widest screen ever wrapped around the front of the venue. The Dolby Stereo soundtrack was amazing to behold: The Blue Danube would never sound the same again.
