Spring in the churchyard

I'd just finished photographing the final street (yippee!) in my Streets of Bowdon project (streetsofbowdon.co.uk) and was walking home up the ginnel past St Mary's churchyard when this shot caught my eye. St Mary's is at the highest point of Bowdon and its site has a D-shaped profile, apparently an indicator that it may have Anglo-Saxon origins. The churchyard is on the south-facing slope of Bowdon and before the development of the township in the C19 would have offered a view over the Cheshire plain. It contains some Commonwealth War graves.
