MonoMonday: Portraits

Cooking is a serious business.
I am hosting MM this week for the Blackheath Blippers. I've asked for a portrait and if possible some thoughts on the technique you have applied.

When I mind Jane she usually wants to make jelly (pink). So I have captured her in a typical activity. 
You can't usually get children to oblige while reconfiguring the less than ideal background so I used a large aperture to at lease blur it as much as possible.
The natural light from the window on her right, with a bit of help by increasing the contrast, made the lighting more interesting I thought.
