Watching For Ice Out

Dear Diary,

Most of the snow is gone except in shady spots but the ice on the lakes and ponds is just beginning to melt.  We are all waiting for that glorious moment to announce, "Ice Out!"  There are contests in some towns to predict the actual date and time with a control pond and ice spotter.  My little pond has a ways to go but once we start to have above freezing nights the process will go quickly.  I thought this shot looked like an aerial view of some landscape in Antarctica with icebergs breaking off the ice shelf.
