Student Fees

Secondary schooling in Malawi is expensive and out of reach of most poor people.
These are some of the students we support in Zola Zola CDSS, community, day secondary, school. The community usually find a donor for such schools, the community run it and the Government pay the teachers, when they have the funds, often late. We work closely with this school in terms of training/mentoring, liabrary, and general bits and pieces. The Head is an amazing woman and we seek her support and advice in selecting the poor girls mostly and the hard workers. The need is huge and we are very selective with our small funding from our amazing donors. It costs about 100 Euro per year to pay for fees, books, copies, biros, uniforms and exam fees. Occasionally we have to buy bikes as some students live, up to 15 Km away.
We have conferences each term with school and parents to monitor progress and home situations which show huge fluctuations. It's an amazing programme.
