Serenity but paddling furiously

What a start to the day. We received a call from the carers for 93 year old mother-in-law to say that she wasn't in the house and her bed hadn't been slept in. The police were contacted and it was finally established that she had dialled the Emergency service and had been admitted to hospital. Although, her physical health is not of concern, they are worried that her mental health has deteriorated. It is hard to see what the next steps will be. She is so fiercely independent, that it is hard to see her settling in any Institution.

Having spent most of the morning on the phone, it was such a relief to have my quiet time at the nature reserve.
