The way it's done now

I stopped to admire the structural engineering on the new Metro Sports Centre. The structural requirements of new buildings in Christchurch city have completely changed since the earthquakes.

I thought of Dad as I blipped this. We're approaching the third anniversary of his death and I miss him. I once showed him a new central city building under construction.

As an engineer, he was amazed at the thickness of the supports and how much had changed. He would have appreciated what's on show here. I've mentioned before that the foundation work for this complex was colossal.

Today's gratitude: For managing a second day of busing to work today, and a physio gym session later, despite some bus sway later.
