Cherry Plum Blossom

A beer bottling / brewing morning - building my stock up again, somehow it seems to have got a bit low…

Then an afternoon blip hunt…in the end I only had to go about five metres from my front door to photograph this beautiful blossom and leaves. An ornamental flowering cherry plum tree - Prunus (we think) - the builders planted it in the front garden, but never actually left us any details.

At the moment the tree is covered in masses of these pink flowers and it has lovely fresh bronze coloured leaves emerging. The flowers are very popular with bees - and there may be a few black plums later in the year. They are about the size of grapes - but we have never tried to eat any - the birds usually grab them first. The leaves will turn a very dark purple (almost black) colour, which look fabulous in bright sun. Looks much better in LARGE

Daughter and family are still isolating - only the eldest granddaughter has tested positive..fingers crossed it stays that way.
