New reality day 247

I don't even know how to start this story.

We didn't sleep much last night. Nearly not at all. Amadeus' health crashed last night. He was clearly in pain and couldn't lie down to sleep. So he was sitting and panting all night. At some point we gave him some Aspirin (contra all suggestions) and he was able to get little break from the panting, but that was shortly lived.

In the morning we tried to catch a vet (this is the countryside). And finally were told to  go to emergency in Iisalmi (city about 20km away). We saw a very nice young vet. They took blood tests and X-rays of Amadeus. The results are:
1) His heart is enlarged
2) He has bone spikes is his backbone
3) He has a mass / tumor next to his stomach
4) He has so fluids in his lungs

We got some dehydrating drug that should help with the fluids. And some pain meds. I called our vet back home, and Amadeus has an appointment for consultation on Tuesday. We need to decide how we will handle the rest of his time on earth.

The meds have helped so that he's been able to sleep between panting. That is good. He's now resting and hopefully we all will get some sleep tonight. Needless to say we are exhausted.
