If you can't beat them...

Fell Pony

Kanyl and I decided to have a wander on Mungrisdale Common.   Don't look for it on a map you won't find it!  Officially it is called Caldbeck Common.   I suspect only the Ordnance Survey could explain why the named an area beside Mungrisdale after a village a few miles away.  We have always known it as Mungrisdale Common.

Kanyl was after Gorse flowers as he alway carries on the old tradition of dying Pasche Eggs with natural dyes.  He favours Onion skins and Gorse flowers.  He had collected the flowers he needed by the time we met up.

So we wandered along through the gorse bushes watching the 7 parascenders floating about above West Fell.  Wandering across the fell was a herd of what looked like Fell Ponies.   What I mean is they were all fell ponies.  This annoyed me a little as there used to be a herd of mixed breeds on there.  Very friendly they would let you get close and pose for pictures.  The owner was hounded into taking them off the fell.  Fair enough if they were a problem either environmental or safety wise.  They weren't.   very soon after he had been forced off this herd appeared.
