Green Knowe

If you’ve ever read Lucy Boston’s magical children’s books then this is where they’re set. It’s the Manor House at Hemingford Grey, parts of which date back to the 11th century with Tudor, Georgian and Victorian additions. The stories are utterly delightful and in normal times you can tour the house to see where the characters ‘lived’ and see the trinkets they loved. Even the topiary chess shapes in the garden and the river just outside the gate play a huge part in the story. Brilliant storytelling!
