Light at the end of the tunnel

The light at the end of this tunnel is an oncoming blackthorn tree in full blossom. The footpath occupies the space between two sets of blackthorn hedges, festooned with lichens on the inside and covered with blackthorn flowers on the outside, it runs for about half a mile before you emerge back into the light. A perfect detour on an early walk when there's a cold wind blowing.
