Cambridge Dave's 2021

A relic of Cambridge's Brewing History

Another of my poor man's antiques which I'm very fond of.

Bailey & Tebbutt, the Panton Brewery, was based in Panton Street Cambridge. The origins of the company go back to 1869 but the name of Bailey & Tebbutt was adopted in 1897. This stoneware flagon probably dates to between 1897 and when the company was purchased by Greene King in 1925 along with 48 pubs around the city and a few in nearby villages. Brewing ceased in 1957 and the brewery was demolished in 1969. However, the Panton Arms pub still survives as one of Cambridge's most popular pubs.
