The unofficial way

James went to the post office first thing this morning to tax his new car. He doesn’t have all the documents yet hence why this trip was necessary. Long story short he was missing something else he needed to tax it at the post office. “Is there no other way you can do it?”, he eventually asks — we’re pretty desperate by the point because we had a big Peak District day planned and can’t use the car otherwise. “Oh well there is the unofficial way”, the man says and resolves it somehow. Hurrah for the unofficial way! We’re still unsure what that is but have all the correct proof now so it doesn’t matter.

Then we went to the Peak District with a 9 mile walk up Kinder Scout planned. We did an approximately 9 mile walk but not remotely the one we’d planned due to our poor map reading. At one point we had to totally leave the path and cut across moorland to get back on track. Many, many unofficial ways were followed. Luckily we had carrot cake to get us through the most stressful detours.
