the sea, the sea

Joanna and I have stayed local since lockdown, but we have missed the sea. We wanted to return to Rough Island, which we last visited in August, and the window of opportunity was open today - the island closes soon to protect nesting birds. The tides were right and the weather was perfect and Joanna wasn't needed to help with lambing..so we went for it!

Walked from an eerily quiet Kippford across the (muddier than I remembered) causeway, had a lovely picnic on the summit (who knew dogs like olives?) and walked back via the Mote of Mark (great views - see extra).

Joanna took me to another beach nearby called Red Haven (due to its red sand). It was beautiful. Who needs abroad?

Main photo is a man with his dog, digging for bait.

Today's walks: Stepford Round 3.54 miles, Rough Island Circular 4.6 miles Red Haven Beach 1.09 miles.
