At last!

After weeks looking at buds not doing anything, we suddenly have leaves appearing on trees, horse chestnuts in spectacular bud, flowering currant actually bursting into flower, and ubiquitous whin. All exploding from a stahdijng start in the space of two or three days.

One reads gardening magazines saying hooray, it's April, plant these things now. Here in the North Highlands it might be weeks before we can do most of that. It feels as if the start of spring and summer coincide sometimes.
