Easter Pilgrimage

Woke up knackered this morning but felt i had to get some fresh air in my lungs & see some open skies. Seemed to suit Easter quite well to have an 8 mile yomp over the moors taking in the Pilgrims stone.

Middle of nowhere, but mentioned as far back as 870AD as a crossroads for pilgrims going to a religious site that later became Whalley Abbey. This stone is just over 100 years old as the original from 1176 was nicked in 1901!

Highlight of the day though was hearing and seeing the skylarks that are back on the moors :-)
