wild & precious life

Easter Saturday

Eldest daughter made her back yard all pretty with lights and plants for a socially distanced afternoon tea (sandwiches / pasta salad / vegan sausage rolls / scones etc). The rules now allow for this in the UK. The atmosphere was different in the streets with lots of people meeting up in their gardens on camp chairs. The sunshine was helping too, although there was still a real chill in the shade and as the sun retreated for the night. On our way back, we could hear fires crackling, a guitar playing, chatter and laughter.

I normally go to the Easter vigil mass under normal circumstances when the paschal candle is lit from a fire and spread amongst parishioners, each holding their individual candle. The fire pit was symbolic of this. The watching and waiting for the light to return to the world.
