Easter Sunday

When the kids were little we would hide Easter eggs overnight for them in the tiny back yard of our two story house. One year they ran to the windows overlooking the back yard to try and get a head start when they were given the go-ahead to begin the hunt. (John could not start his day without his shower and they couldn't start theirs until he had had it). Imagine  their dismay when all they saw was neat little piles of smashed colored eggshells all over. It seems the raccoons got to the Easter eggs before the kids did.

I hope all who celebrate Easter were able to enjoy the day and celebrate in they way they wished. We were pleased to be able to join Dana and Jim and a group of their friends for an outdoor brunch. They are so good about including us and we feel almost like family. They all have sons about the same age (who politely eschewed the kale salad I took) and repaired to watch the baseball while the rest of us sat in the sun and enjoyed a delicious meal. I was afraid I wouldn't remember how to be social, but a lot has happened to all of us over the last year and there was plenty to talk about.

We took our leave before the pickleball began. Spike was waiting for us in his little corner of the fence with a good view of the driveway. I don't think we will be needing any dinner tonight...maybe a little leftover kale salad....
