This is the interior of a free-standing 3-sided (ie open-fronted) shed outside the front door of an old cottage in a rural area. There´s a Spanish word for these but I´ve forgotten it.
Basically. as you see, it´s a well to provide water via winch and bucket, with basins that allowed the water to be used for whatever purposes the householder chose.
These are rare survivors now, and I don´t suppose they´re used much if at all; all the villages now have municipal water, and it´s mainly the more rigorous of the neorurales, wanting to live off-grid, who still use the wells.
It´s how life was though.
