Shapbeck Quarry

This was a surprise view on our way to bag the Wainwright Outlying Fell on Knipe Scar.  View from the Wainwright, looking east over the Lowther Valley towards Mardale, in extras, but I don't see quarries that often, thought this surprisingly attractive  and it will make a change from all those boring Lake District views.  In reality this is a perhaps a more typical view because in the "old days", the Lakes were full of working quarries. We came up to Shap to avoid the Easter Monday Lake District crowds. It worked and we were disappointed to see 2 other couples out walking during our 2.5 hour ramble
