Birthday lunch

Our run of beautiful autumn weather continues. We’re staying in a charming B&B 1km out of town. The property has four cottages in among the vines, our friends have rented one as well and it was his birthday today. As we are in one of the state’s best wine regions a day of eating and drinking to celebrate seemed in order.

We started out with a short walk along the Riesling Trail to Tim Adams Wines for a tasting. We opted for a flight of five; riesling, tempranillo, cabernet malbec, shiraz and botrytis riesling, all paired with a different cheese. The tempranillo with manchego got my vote.

After the appetiser we then headed a further 2.5km along the trail to the partner winery, Mr Mick wines, for lunch. Delicious tapas style dining with more wine pairing. The images in the collage were all snapped on iPhone in the winery garden.

A very easy, relaxed day in good company.
