Sulky

Angie had been to visit some riding friends and ended up bringing this "Sulky" home that was abandoned in a field. I can't remember how much she paid for it but not a lot.

It is a home-made one, and on paper looks good. Enough seating for 4 and springs on main forward-looking seat. But somehow the weight/balance ratios are not quite right.

These types of carriage are generally used to train horses for "Trotter Racing" on racecourses, quite popular in Europe and I think even America. The horses are not allowed to break into a canter or gallop.

Angie arranged for new tyres from a relation who deals in such things, motorbike tyres and not cheap. Sadly what we never got sorted was the yoke which was not part of the deal. Tried welding on some which was OK but not ideal. Somehow at exactly this time, Angie lost all interest in driving with just one horse, so it has remained almost totally unused.
