Memories for George

Grandson George gave us this bottle of liqueur for Christmas. He said he didn’t know anything about the drink, he just liked the elephant! When George was nine years old N and I took him for a holiday in South Africa. We had lots of adventures together, but one of the memorable ones was when our safari jeep was chased by a very cross bull elephant. It has obviously stuck in George’s mind.
Amarula liqueur is made in South Africa from the fruit of the Marula tree.. The trees grow wild on the plains of Southern Africa and the sun ripened fruit are much loved by elephants. To make the liqueur the fruit is fermented, distilled and matured for two years before blending with cream. Needless to say, it is delicious!
