Book Club

This was our book club choice for our Zoom Meeting discussion  this evening . It was a really good read - and the idea of the Foundling Hospital in Georgian England where young women drew lots to leave their babies if they were unmarried or poor provided the base for a very gripping tale . I had never come across this before historically . There is a Museum in London where there are many examples of the tokens left behind in case at a later date the children could be reclaimed.

It was a bit of a strange day as Stan’s Aunt collected him this afternoon to take him to live in Birmingham . It really feels like an empty nest tonight - Paul and I were really upset after he’d gone though we are also really pleased for him . It’s been a long time with Lockdowns that he’s been here and despite the normal ups and downs of a 25 year old living with olds, he leaves a big gap ! We’ve been supporting him through job applications and culinary exploits in our own kitchen !!!! :)
