Ghost Sign

The shop unit next to The Gellions Bar in Bridge Street, Inverness is being re-fitted, revealing a sign from ages gone by. But what does it say? The only legible word is 'Makers,' so my guess is that it once said 'Kilt Makers.' Someone will know. The large windows above belongs to what was once the local Court House, before the present castle was built to accommodate all law courts. I'd love to see inside the older building.
I now think it's 'Watchmakers.' Any ideas?

I visited the then divided Berlin a few times in the eighties, and there were 'ghost stations' with armed guards on the underground U-Bahn.
