Was it an ugly gosling?

Some weeks ago I saw black swans at Snells Beach; a parental pair and one or two juveniles. Only a few times and then nothing. Until about the same time as I noticed the arrival of Kuihi (Canada geese). In the last week or two, whenever I see the Kuihi, there is this juvenile black swan. It is nearly in adult plumage. Today it seemed to be an intrinsic and accepted member of the flock of just over 50 Kuihi.

Today was the first time that I have truly experienced the new way I have of working on Friday morning with the afternoon off. I am able in the morning to review my emails, and deal to some. Then have the morning "handover" meetings by zoom. Nurses inform the rest of the Multidisciplinary Team of how the patients are progressing and we decide what needs to be done this day. A couple of other admin type meetings also by zoom. Hore dealing with correspondence. Then a planning meeting (by zoom) for a patient and her family with the community team, resulting in her being discharged. And finish the half day with more emails and stuff.

As well as avoiding two and a half hours (or more) in a car, this appears to be a more efficient way of working. A Zoom meeting is close enough to being in the same room to be positive, and at the same time everyone is trying hard to make it work which leads to good outcomes. One very good thing to come from the shutdowns due to Covid-19.

Out to dinner this evening with one of S' poetry group friends and his wife. Very pleasant.
