Banks Peninsula

We had 2 wonderful beach walks today. One at Okanes Bay (main photo)and the other at Le Bons Bay. Frida loved the beaches, but kept drinking the seawater- she is a real “lake dog”...and didn’t learn not to drink it!
Okanes Bay (has a very, very small population)has an interesting, educational museum, and we spent some time there.

This afternoon we went to the Giants House. It is incredible. The artist, Josie Martin, lives there and she has turned her garden into an amazing riot of colour with her mosaic sculptures and colourful garden. (extras). The sculptures are larger than life size, and you can sit on the laps of many of them. A very happy place to visit.

To finish our wonderful day, we drove to Wainui and had dinner with a woman we met when she and her partner ran these amazing tours in Italy. We spent a week with them in Puglia and had one of the best holidays I’ve had. Lyn is a chef- she spoilt us in Italy, and now she cooked a delectable meal for us in her home which is a very early Peninsula house. It was very special catching up with her again.
