During World War II, many tons of iron railings in Britain were removed as part of the war effort. The railings were usually cut off at the base and the stumps or sockets  can still be seen outside many buildings. The scrap metal was intended for use in the manufacture of weapons of war.
Yesterday, the railings that had been removed from outside our village hotel were finally replaced!
