A more civilised future beckons

First thing this morning we had our second jabby, so that's us immunised except for the variants we aren't immunised against. We don't see ourselves changing our habits any time soon. Still ...

Not a day for going out, though. I was reading the New European over coffee and took a photograph of this for three reasons.

First, the Trans Europe Express network was started in 1962, and the subject caused me to revisit my own experiences travelling round Europe by train on my Modern Language Travelling Scholarship, a forerunner of Erasmus.

Second, the original network having been discontinued after cheap air travel took its business, TEE is being revived in the light of climate change. We would be on it like a shot, because we prefer train travel to flying. But you'll notice  Little England is missing from the map. So we shall have to take the shortest route from Scotland to mainland Europe and pick up the train there. By the way, if you've never looked at the website of The Man In Seat 61, I recommend it.

Third reason? This being about Trans. Europe. Express. I want to give @fennerpearson a Kraftwerk earworm.
