This country really loses its mind about anything related to the royal family, one way or another.

All five ‘council telly’ channels just went to all day coverage about the death of Prince Philip, while several others stopped broadcasting ‘out of respect’.

I have no axe to grind here, and obviously this is deeply sad for the queen and her family, but the uncritical “what a tremendous person he was” tone, on an hourly loop, became somewhat hard to take.

Particularly the way a lifetime of deeply inappropriate and frequently racist comments was passed off as just ‘banter’.

Feel free to ignore it, but don’t try and pass it off as ‘okay’.
